Just looking for some advice and opinions from you.

 

I'm currently thinking of trading in my Mk2 Blackline estate manual for a Mk3 vRS TDI estate.

 

Car was registered Oct 13, and has done 24k miles. It's in excellent condition apart from one small dent on the rear bumper - about which I have no idea (by the look of it most likely some muppet with a trolley in a supermarket car park).

 

Anyway, I'm being offered a £12.6k trade-in. Do you think this is a fair price ?  Cars like mine of similar age and mileage are going for £15.5k on Autotrader (via franchise dealers). I know dealers have to get a margin on selling used cars, but £3k seems high to me.

 

 

The 'Asking Prices' might well be £15.5,  but that is a Wish & a Dream unless someone buys the cars for that from them.

 

So they Ask high and accept less often, and they offer you low, and you might accept as many do.

 

I doubt you are getting offered a Fair Price, but its maybe all you will get, or you might get a few hundred more,

then when they sell yours again, they might accept a few hundred less than the 'Asking Price', they advertise at.

 

That is how the Trade Works really, they are in Business to make profits.

 

You might get offered more if you are looking at buying something they are struggling to get sold.
