rear cluster

Featured Replies

hi, recently the bulb symbol been showing on the dash. checked all lights and it seems the 2 small bulbs in the passenger side cluster are the culprits. Thing is if I turn lights off and on again theyll come on for a few seconds and then turn off again? Any ideas.

More than likely Bulbs are knackered the reason they may be coming on and off is the element/filiment in the bulb is broken but from time to the element/filiment will touch together causing the bulb to light

There is another similar thread on this same page, the number plate lights come on for a few seconds then go out. This was after attempting to fit some LED bulbs though.

The rear light clusters on all Octavia's are very picky when it comes to bulbs.

Skoda choosing to use 4W (instead of the far more popular 5W) together with the bulb monitoring system all play their part.

My recommendation as a first effort is to replace all bulbs in that cluster. Sounds strange when they are working (albeit temporarily) but the blown-bulb system is also able to detect when a bulb is starting to fail (must affect the resistance somehow).

Fresh bulbs have solved many issues in the past.

When the bulbs begin to work after a few seconds does the on-dash warning go out?

Yep turn lights off for a few seconds and back on no warning light and all lights work 30seconds and off go the bulbs and on goes the warning light.

Cheers I'll pay a visit to Halford and start swapping out old for new.
