Couple of things I could do help with.

Featured Replies

Firstly what bulb do I need to replace the bulb in the light in the door card as the drivers side, that operates when you open the door as it isn't working? And how do I go about fitting/replacing the new bulb.

Also what bulbs do I need to replace the green backlight bulbs for the four window switches in the drivers armrest and how do I fit them?

Also my alarm LED on top of the door isn't working either, but the alarm is working fine.

Could these three things be linked to a blown fuse? If so what no and where can I find them?

Cheers Lee.

Sounds odd that the 3 issues reported have turned up together? I wonder if a wire or 2 have snapped in the hinge or something?

I have a complete drivers side red / white unit if you need it, I had to buy a new door card and mine doesn't have the electrics for it.

If this is the one?

A similar issue to this has been reported in the past with the addition of one of the rear doors not locking. It turned out that a wire inside the rubber boot / gator that goes from behind the wing into the drivers door had become brittle, the plastic coating had split and the wire had begun to fail.

This was always a classic problem with MkII Golfs as they aged: the wires running through the rubber gaitor at the top of the boot where it hinged generally would snap over time. Remember as a teenager having a load of mine connected in a short space with bullet connectors! :D
