Want to change gear-box oil in my 10 year old Fabia.

 

Two types seen: EP75W 90 Fully Synthetic spec API GL4 & API GL5.

 

Also: SAE 75W 90 Fully Synthetic, spec API GL4 & API GL5.

 

Gear-box holds approx 2.5 litres I have been told?

Can't get hold of the same make for the other 2 litres I require to do gearbox oil change.

Just bought Fuchs Fully Synthetic SAE 75W 80 API GL-5 as recommended by my local oil supplier 'OPIE OILS'

Commented to use 75W 80 as opposed to 75W 90, as it could/would make gear change stiff.

 

Paid total £27.00 for 3 litres as opposed to local Skoda parts department at £30.00 a litre, making a total of £90.00 !!

GL5 is not retro-compatible with GL4   something to do with phosphor bronze if I remember right----don't think you'll go far wrong with those Opie lads-first class service and no I don't have shares   Fuchs is good stuff and WHAT a saving over the stealers who prob'ly s don't have much of a clue beond computer says so
