Miles to empty query.

Featured Replies

85 miles to empty on pick up - roughly how much fuel put in (in pounds) ?

2.0 tdi 110 SE 2wd.

£50-55 depending upon local price.

I would guess 6 or 7 litres have been put in. I have the same car as you and I usually fill up when it reads around 85 miles to go and it takes about 48 litres. In my experience the fuel warning light comes on when it says 60 miles to empty. So about £57 to fill up I think.

You have between 9 and 10.5 L in the tank, so as you are 2WD you have used about 45 L. How about £57?

I should have spent less time working that out. We have overlapped, at the same price.

The computer showed 85 miles left in the tank when we took delivery. We were told 20 pounds had been put in - doubtful ?

The Range of 85 miles can be based on a low Average MPG from a new car only doing delivery miles if that is what it is,

running stationary and going to the filling station for £20 of Fuel (3 gallon ish).

That 85 mile range could have improved once the car was out running and then getting 40 plus MPG.

I'd say a lot nearer £10

Bear in mind the "miles to empty" is set to be wildly pessimistic to ensure you never actually run out of fuel.

When it shows you have "zero" miles in the tank you will find it will run another 40-50+ miles.
