PD170 remap issue?

Featured Replies

Hi guys would just like some advice regarding the remap on my 2007 seat Leon FR tdi.

A while ago (approx 1.5 years) I had the dpf removed from my car along with a map. Initially when the dpf was removed I just opted for the map that doesn't produce a stage 1 but rather to bypass the dpf so there wasn't really any power increase. A couple of months later I decided I want the car to have a bit more power so I went back to the same place (A Mercedes specialist) for a power increase. They installed a stage 1 map which IMO would have given the car 200+bhp as there was a significant increase in the power. I was happy with this and drove the car around for a couple of days until suddenly it started to stutter on acceleration until finally the car just returned back to how it was before the power upgrade. I took it back to the garage who were confused as to what had happened so I left the car with them while they reinstalled the map (2-3 times) with no results. The car would just stay at standard power. They just couldn't find out what was wrong so I left it at that as the car wasn't really causing me any problems like this as it was just like it was standard 170 again. A few months later I had a not to severe crash which left the car off road for 3 months while i sourced the body parts required and saved up for the work to be done. During this time the battery was removed. Once I had all the parts fitted and battery reconnected the cars power was back again (200bhp+) and stayed like this for a few days until it started to stutter again and went back to standard and has been for the past few months. The car doesn't give off any signs of abnormality and runs through the gears as a normal pd170 would, neither has connected the car to a computer showed up any faults. What do you guys think? It's just weird that the car can one day produce upgraded power and the next return to standard without any fault warnings or anything. Also do you think the fact the battery was disconnected for 3 months reset the Ecu so when I had it back on road the power was back, but then after a while of driving all the computers would have stored information causing the car to fall back into a safe mode of driving?

Thanks in advance guys

I really don't think the bum dyno is an accurate way to measure a ~30bhp difference, I really doubt it's going between standard and mapped like you're assuming

Do you have VCDS? If so I would suggest logging group 11 to see what boost its requesting. Also log group 1 to see what the requested IQ is.

Theirs a number of maps in this Ecu, it may be defaulting to a lower boost map or fuelling map. As to why I do not know. Still new to this Ecu.

Having driven my car for a year prior to having the dpf deleted I had gotten used to the standard power so when the power map was installed there WAS an extreme difference. In the time of having the map on for the couple of days I tried some tests to see roughly how fast the car was. I raced a Megane r26 and kept up with it all the way, in fact on better gear changes I would pull ahead a little. A mk5 gti DSG was no match. I did 5 0-60 times which gave me times between (6.8 secs - 7.0) prior to the power map I was getting around 7.8

Thanks for the reply mate.. I haven't got vcds but can go to my private garage to use theirs... Upon checking group 11 boost request am I looking for anything in a specific range or is this to find out just how much it's requesting. Also same goes for group 1?

Cheers mate

It will need to be logged during a wide open throttle run. Ideally third from 1500 to 4500. But yes it's to show what boost its requesting. Stock is 1.5bar. I think theirs lesser boost maps for different driving conditions.

Group 1 is fuel.
