Alpine comp's and Sound deadening

Featured Replies

Hi, I've been threatening to by some ICE for all too long now.

Now I am finding I seldom listen to the radio and listen more to music I like which naturally encourages you to turn the volume up :D And my Alpine headunit is beginning to destroy the standard speakers

I know the old Alpine Type R comp's fit the Furb vRS but does anyone know of any difficulties with the new model:

Alpine say's mounting depth is 69.5mm, I cant compare hat depth with the old model however as the info is obviously not on there website anymore.

And secondly, views on this?

Seems very cheap for the amount you get, I am not looking for a sound studio just to reduce/eliminate the rattles (especially from the left side  )

Thanks for your help :)

69.5mm is DEEP - I think my infnity Kappa woofers are a little less, about 65mm. They're already pushing against the door card a little which makes vibrations sometimes. I've not reinstalled my audio for a while so can't comment on recent experience. :)

Phew I was *this* close to ordering them, I thought 'i'll put a quick post just to check' :o

Like to hear if anyone else has fitted them, may have to look elsewhere otherwise...

I have those speakers in a box at my house. I've asked a few times on the forum if they will fit.

As far as I can tell from the replies; they will fit, but require you making your own spacers and perhaps making the doorcard bulge a little (you may need to make spacers on the front of the speaker so they have free movement without hitting the doorcard)

If you do fancy being like me and trying to make a square peg fit in a round hole, let me know as I found them

When sound deadening your doors. I found it best to do the door skin itself and also the back of the silver panel. I used the stuff from http://www.bodyshopwarehouse.co.uk/

Look under Body Shop > Vehicle Preparation > Vehicle Preparation Misc

Cheers :D

Nope they'd sold out of the old Type R's so I've cancelled my order - better get looking else where then.............

edit: Any advice would be good, I want some with a bit of thump to them (which is why I opted for the Alpines) as I cant really go down the sub route, I just wouldnt be able to get my golf clubs in there :)
