Problem with DSG since engine replacement.

Featured Replies

over the last few days i've been having issues with my gearbox. When I hit a sort of bump whilst flooring it in D, the gearbox is sometimes jumping upto seventh. The same sort of thing when not flooring it but it will drop from say D6, to D and then find the gear again.

This has only been since I had my engine replaced about 600 miles ago. I'm hoping this isn't the start of major issues but more so just a simple reset?

Intermittent ?

Any fault messages being displayed?

Back to dealer service dep't who replaced the engine!

Yeah, done a 300 mile round trip to southampton with no problems, put my foot down pulling off the other day had a bit of wheelspin and hit a bit of a pot hole then it shot up the revs and dropped into 7th.

No fault messages at all.

Definitely a trip back to the dealer, was just wondering if anyone had any ideas? the only thing i've done is put a BOV on in the last 6 months, I really can't see it being that though.

That is different, what is wrong with going into 7th.?

The BOV can well be an issue, but not concerning the going into 7th.

i can see it doing nothing good for your engine, certainly not improving performance or efficiency.

What BOV have you fitted?

What engine did you get a New Factory Build,

& did the Garage do a Software Update,

& has your DSG had the Service Campaign work, Oil change and Software Update,

& a Sticker in the boot to say it was done?

Your replacement engine work must be guaranteed by whoever did it,

have then run the Diagnostics and see if you have any codes, and also do a visual inspection.

Including of the DSG gear stick and connections.

I would remove the BOV first though.

well its jumping from 2ndto 7th for example. for example im driving along giving it the beans at say 4k revs, then all of a sudden it'll just completely drop the gear, rev up to 7k and then find 7th. other times it'll just drop the gear from say d3, to just d and then pick up where it dropped.

I believe i've fitted the forge BOV, i've been meaning to take it off for a while, i was never meaning to keep it on anyways.

I believe it to be a reconditioned one but did get a 2 year extended warranty with it (thank the heavens)

They did do an update and I have had the gearbox service shortly before I had the engine changed.

I will be removing the BOV as soon as I get home tonight. will update on what happens from there.

UPDATE: I'm having issues finding the orignal bolts, the ones that come with the BOV are a little longer. This is the problem with still living at home haha!

Anyone have any idea where I can purchase a set or have an idea what size the orignal ones are? save me having to turn the house upside down.

Also, do you think different profile tyres would be causing my problem? It literally only happens when I hit a pot hole or get the wheels spinning.
