Featured Replies

Hello, I have a Skoda Octavia Tour 1.9 TDI and this is the second time the fuse box that goes over the battery it burn, the A/C and fan fuse only, the other 2 stay normally.

Do any one of you have this issue or have a solution or recommendation what to do??

Welcome to Briskoda  B)

Fuses are designed to protect the electrical system from damage after a fault. If the fuses have popped twice then there is a fault in the system somewhere.

The engine fans on the MkII Octavia are a weak point.

The best thing to do is to have the car scanned using VCDS. Is there anyone close to you in the Dominican Republic that can read the car for stored fault codes?

There is more information on VCDS here...

And here, this is where you can cross reference the fault codes...

In some countries a 2006 Octavia Tour is a Mk 1 Octavia. One common problem on these models is burning of the fuse box caused by overheating of the alternator cable, melting plastic around the cable connector and adjacent fuses.

If this is your situation then replace the alternator cable and the fuse box. It is a high resistance crimp connection on the cable that overheats and this also increases the resistance of the cable too, adding to the heating.

If you are sure your Tour is a Mk 2 then ignore the above comment.
