poor fuel consumption

Featured Replies

Hi wonder if anyone can help, just got a fabia 3 1900tdi no remap just standard and I am only getting 418 miles out of a full tank of diesel driving like miss Diasy around town is this about right or should I be getting more? I had a golf same engine and she was returning well over 550 per tank, any thoughts cheers

The golf has a bigger tank. I think the golf is 55 litres?

The Fabia has a 45 litre tank.. But this can be extended another 10 litres by 'venting'. However.. This should only be done before a long trip. Its not advisable to park it up and leave it like that

Edit: have you worked out the MPG from pump to pump?

Welcome to the forum.

(Venting a diesel car has not got the same dangers as a petrol car / fuel tank.)

How many litres is it you actually need to put in to get 418 miles.

I put roughly about 42 litres

So 9.2 Gallons.

418 miles divided by 9.2 = 45 MPG.

No idea what others get, but hopefully they will be along.

418 divided by 42 times 4.545 equals 45.2 mpg - 550 divided by 55 times 4.545 equals 45.4 mpg - although these are based on basic and not actual numbers. Apart from driving like Miss Daisy, is your "around town" short journeys, long journeys into town and what are the roads like. I also live in the NW and it is generally a case of climbing many hills on a journey. Would suggest looking at it again once you have the actual miles and litres. May also be worth zeroing the trip 2 at the next fill up to give you a long term record, although these computers are not calibrated - mine is reasonably accurate at around 54 mpg using pump figures and trip 2.

Hmm probably not now you mention it mate, but im not sure.

For 'around town' driving, 45mpg seems reasonable?

Wish we got that out of our 1.9pd T5 haha.
