Hi as the title suggest I was wondering if anyone has any history with this scout?

My dad is after a new can to tow his small caravan but doesn't do many miles over the year. Because of this I have recommended a petrol to avoid DPF issues.

Also if you don't know the car is there anything he should be asking about? Is there any special haldex servicing that he should ensure has been carried out or anything related to the 1.8.

On a FL I think the Haldex oil should be changed every 3 years, so worth checking whether or not it's been done. If if hasn't, budget about £100 (IIRC) to get that done. Check alloys for signs of delamination. If your father wants to keep them looking good it may be necessary to get them refurbed (though the one in picture doesn't look too bad yet). There have also been well documented issues with the chain driven TSI engine but my recently purchased Scout shares the same 1.8 engine.

Thanks. Is there signs to look for reference the chain issues? Does the price seem right? My dad is pretty poor with negotiating.
