Turns out it wasnt the fuel pump

Featured Replies

So! Yesterday I broke down, car just started running rough and then eventually died, couldn't get it restarted, had to get recovery out, they thought it was the fuel pump, got it going and got home. My mate said he would have a look at it before booking it in somewhere properly. So I drove to his work, broke down on of the busiest roundabouts in Teesside, eventually managed to get there.

He plugged it in and code read it, cleared the codes and I drove it round the estate until it happened and we could read the codes again.

So it happened and we read the code and it came up with a power supply issue to one of the injectors. And it seems that when you move a certain part of the wiring loom, the car starts running awful and cutting out. After a bit of investigating it looks like the wiring loom had been resting on the oil cooler and possibly damaged it. We stripped the tape off the bunch of wires to check for obvious breaks but couldn't see any. It's now booked into an auto electrician tomorrow in Middlesbrough called TH Flory. Dreading the bill as it looks like the bad bit of wiring is down in engine bay narnia!

Has anyone else had any similar experiences? And should this really be happening on a 62 plate car?!
