Wierd problem with new HU

Featured Replies

Greetings all,

Just bought a cheap Tevion HU from aldi to replace the R/C in my fabia, now I've swapped the yel and red cables in the ISO connector as per prev posts i have read, the unit seems to work great and now my presets are being remembered, my only problem is when I turn the ignition off the stereo can be powered off - all well and good, however when i remove the keys (the same time as the interior light automatically coming on) I can hear the speakers which start hissing slightly as if the stereo is on but nothing is playing, i can't work out why this would happen unless it's the head unit?? I also don't want to leave the HU nstalled like this as I'm worried it could flatten the batterY!

Any advice/ideas much appreciated

Cheers

Matt

hmmm interesting you should say this i noticed a 'click' from speakers when i remove the key even if the stereo is already off, not a hissing as you describe... but then we have different H/Us perhaps the switched live to normal live still somehow powers speakers... i dunno rambling on here!! Interesting what will be turned up through this.

Sounds odd to me. I can't think of anything likely to have caused it. Older head units used to common the -ve connection of each speaker cable to ground. Quite often because of interference this -ve connection had to be linked to earth again in the car avoid interference such as you describe but all head units use floating -ve speaker connections now. I would take it back for replacement or consider something of better quality.

are all the wires neat and tidy? no bare wire showin or back connections?
