Throttle body/fuse/air con

Featured Replies

Hello folks, looking for some advice again and a have a bucketful of questions so bear with me please!!!!

My 05 plate bkd 2 litre had the emissions warning light on dash come on a couple of months ago, however the car was and still is running very well, no drop in power, fuel consumption excellent, maybe a slight warm start issue and smokey on start up but really running sweet.

VCDS revealed p3101, p3102, and p0691. A check on the excellent briskoda forums revealed highly likely a failed throttle body. It was also suggested that the car will run for quite some time with this fault, without any harm to the vehicle, so I was going to leave it until it went in for a big service and timing belt etc in July, I need the car every day at the moment.

The thing is, the air con is not working, which is a shame because I had it fixed at start of last summer, one bit of leaking pipe replaced and a regas all in for 100 quid and was delighted with that. I figured there must be another leak, but then read more threads, which suggested that the p0691 fuse being blown may stop air con working.

Questions

Is the p0691 fuse likely to be the culprit for the aircon, and if so where can I find it??

Am I correct that if the car is running fine, there is no rush to replace the throttle body??

If the fuse is the fault for the aircon, can I disconnect the motor intake flap, thereby preventing the fuse blowing again, and with luck have the aircon working until July??

Prices for the throttle body vary from about 80 to 200, there are many available it appears, can anyone suggest a supplier with decent quality at a fair price, or warn me off any items best avoided??

Many thanks.
