DAB radio Aerial

Featured Replies

We had a Columbus head unit installed in our Superb along with the screen mount aerial which is next to useless.

I decided to change this for a magmount aerial which currently sits on the boot lid.  Mostly it's okay but there are areas when there should be good signal but there's none.  The pool car we have at work is a VW Touran which had a DAB radio and uses the sharkfin as the aerial.  It works everywhere so I am of the opinion that the magmount aerial i have is not so good.

Some one suggested a sharkfin with the built in DAB aerial but at over £150 its a touch expensive and probably a lot of work to install.

Has anyone else got an alternative?

Thanks,

I used a VW aerial and its pretty easy to fit as it replaces the shark fin directly, at least on the estate that I have. Its from a VW pt number 1K0 035 501J. Cost me €75.

Gone up to €85 now:

Trouble is the Columbus unit was fitted to replace a Bolero so there wont be a cable for the DAB aerial.  It would mean having to run a cable through the car somehow.

True. I only ran the cable to the cubby box because thats where my DAB adaptor lives but wasn't that hard a job. Down the D pillar, along the side of the boot and under the door sill trims. I went across under the driver carpet. In hindsight the passenger side would have been easier because I wouldn't have had to remove the throttle pedal which is the hardest bit. Mind you I was also running in the TV tuner and CD changer wiring which is all on the drivers side anyway.
