felicia fun brake upgrade

Featured Replies

hi all,

the brakes on my fun seem really bad although its just passed an mot.

what is the best upgrade to do.

thanks in advance.

The best place to start is to make sure your brakes are in good working order to begin with. A good strip/check/clean up is a nice easy start. Remove any rusty lips from the discs, make sure the brake pads come out easily and put some grease on the butt points where they sit in the caliper carriers. Make sure your pistons have no rust on them by lifting the dust cover and that they can push back nice and smoothly and check that the slide pins slide in and out with little effort.

Also the adjustment of the shoes at the back can make a big difference to the feel of the brakes. Again a good strip down, check and clean up followed by adjustment is well worth doing. Also check the hand brake cables are nice and free too.

Another thing worth checking/changing is the condition of your brake fluid. Old brake fluid will need to be compressed more to work to the same level as new fluid due to it picking up water through time.

If all that is in good order and you're still not happy then you can look at upgrading the set up.

Hope this helps you.

256mm front brakes of you got big bolt cailiper carriers 17mm then get your self some mondeo mk2 calipers grind the carrier to fit hub then kio rio mk2 256mm vented disks and mondeo pads
