Picked up the VRS

Featured Replies

I finally picked up my new Fabia vrs on Sunday. It was delayed for a week as Skoda were refurbishing the alloys and the paint chips. Now that I've been driving it for a few days it is a very nice and airy place to be in I think. The seats are particularly comfortable and supportive, I'm slim built and only 5'9" and also plenty of head room. The position is quite high but I like that as it helps a lot driving around town.

The engine has plenty of low down poke which is great for getting out of junctions even if the DSG is a bit slow to react. I guess all autos seem to do that, apart from CVT in my experience.

Love it in red as not had a red car for over 15 years. Really stands out as I noticed it was the only red car in Aldi supermarket the other day.

Already ordered some accessories, Sunglasses holder, child rear view mirror and wind deflectors :) Anything else people find useful to add?

I'll monitor the oil consumption weekly and hopefully it won't be a drinker. Anything else to keep an eye on?

Thanks for reading.

Skoda Fabia 2013 01

Enjoy.

If it is slow to react pulling away be grateful for that, calm and easy is fine when the roads are wet,

it will adjust to your driving style soon enough.

If you want a shift on then just floor the accelerator.

Maybe put the traction control off first and fit good tyres if not already fitted.

Best run it on 97 Super Unleaded as a minimum and better still 99 ron Tesco Momentum 99 or Shell V-Power Nitro+.

Do not stress on the Oil,

just check where it shows now when parked on the flat and oil cold,

compare with a hot check.

Do not overfill.

Thanks.

I've always run super unleaded in all my cars and this will be no different.

What oil should I use? Is there a good oil I can get from my local Halfords or should I just use Skoda only oil?

Cheers

Didn't realise the dsg adjusted to the way you drive, if in fact it does this, how so?

It does not learn but it adapts.  Plenty threads in other sections on this and explanations.

As you will find when you drive a car that has been a Demo / Fleet / Sales car,

and then one where the DSG has Reset.

?

Have you never noticed after maybe your son has been driving compared to after you had it the trip before?

When i get a car back from being lent out it can surprise me how it behaves after others have driven, using Dynamic Mode etc.

From the Fabia owner's manual...

I can vouch for this, after our engine replacement the dsg basically relearned our style again. My wife is nicknamed "putt putt" by the kids as she toddles around all the time, the dsg and engine very rarely tested in any way at all really. But, if my son has had it for a wee while....oh dear.

Added the Sunglasses holder over the weekend, it is a very cheap and easy thing to do 5mins with just a flat head screwdriver. Now I have more stowage space.

Also added rear child mirror so both the mrs and I can see the little one sleeping in the back.

Lastly the Heko wind deflectors which was a little more effort and made a worrying crack when moving the the windows fully up. Now seems fine after a few goes. Heko supply 8 metal clips but I only ended up using 2 on the front which seems to work fine. I think they look quite subtle and does not change the looks too much.

I've also ordered some under seat stowage boxes so hopefully they will come for the weekend.

Car feels great driving on the back roads but I know what people mean about the road noise on the motorway. Plus side it is doing an indicated 40mpg which is great compared to my last cars 25mpg.

Need to drive it more!

Thanks for reading.
