Suspension dimension hub etc

Featured Replies

Hi, I have just found a used coil-over set for a Golf IV from a Dutch manufacturer. Since they make things themselves they can supply different springs for the rear. But they are about cautious if the Golf mk IV GTi is indeed the same dimensions.

Is someone perhaps able to confirm the shock absorbers to the hub is 49.6 mm thick? And could the length of the rear shock absorbers be 50,5 cm?

Just changed the front spring of my Octavia so yesterday was a good day to measure this...

Though the sites where I bought the springs lists the following as compatible for the front suspension:

AUDI A3 (8L), AUDI A3 (8L) Diesel, AUDI A3 (8L) Quattro, SKODA OCTAVIA (I), SKODA OCTAVIA (I) Diesel, VOLKSWAGEN BORA, VOLKSWAGEN BORA Diesel, VOLKSWAGEN GOLF (IV), VOLKSWAGEN GOLF (IV) Diesel, VOLKSWAGEN GOLF (IV) 4WD, VOLKSWAGEN GOLF (IV) 4WD Diesel

As for the rear suspension they list the following:

AUDI A3 (8L), AUDI A3 (8L) Diesel, SEAT LEON (I), SEAT LEON (I) Diesel, SEAT TOLEDO (II), SEAT TOLEDO (II) Diesel, SKODA OCTAVIA (I), SKODA OCTAVIA (I) Diesel, VOLKSWAGEN BORA, VOLKSWAGEN BORA Diesel, VOLKSWAGEN GOLF (IV), VOLKSWAGEN GOLF (IV) Diesel

So to me it sounds like the suspension is the same of the Golf 4 and the Octavia both rear and front. Though it looks like the spring ain't the same.

Yes, I thought so too... But they are very cautious because they have bad experiences of owners saying: "yes it will fit" only to realise that afterwards there are tiny differences. I am pretty sure the Bora is not the same?
