Wireless confusion

Featured Replies

Hi!

In Sweden, the Octavia "Style" comes standard with wireless charging in the phone box.

As an option, you can choose "Handsfree with WiFi". But Handsfree is already included in the Style trim.

When I look at skoda.co.uk, I see that you have three different options for WiFi/WLAN. One of them includes wireless charging.

When I speak to my seller and Skoda customer service, they confirm that my car will have the wireless charging, but they don't mention WiFi. Other sellers, however, have cars listed with both Qi and WiFi, and they say that these are both included in the Style trim.

So I guess I'm asking: do you think that there will be cars equipped with wireless charging that DON'T have WiFi? (This is the most likely, I know, I know).

OR is the WiFi always included in the wireless charging?

The reason I'm wondering is of course that the wireless charging is rather pointless if I still have to plug the phone in to connect to Android Auto, so I'm trying to figure out if I have to add the WiFi option for this to work.

Best regards,

RL

These are the options I've translated from the czech catalogue:

Enhanced telephone with Bluetooth (rSAP), voice control, connect to LTE via a separate SIM card (only for infotainment Columbus)

Enhanced telephone with Bluetooth and wireless charging and connection to an external antenna / with Voice Control

Enhanced telephone with Bluetooth and wireless charging and connection to an external antenna (rSAP), voice control, connect to LTE via a separate SIM card (only for infotainment Columbus)

According to the Skoda swediah site I'm getting wireless charging and LTE, but this doesn't seem possible with the amundsen system that I'm also getting?
