Central Locking

Featured Replies

Folks,

I'm a recent convert to the Octavia, in a previous life I was a Corrado owner, I said it would never happen, but it did, so family car it is.

I bought the 4x4 hatch, more understated, more neutral cornering, and 150bhp is more what the wife would prefer than 180 or 225.

Anyway, disaster struck, yesterday on the way to footie, the central locking keeps attempting to unlock itself, repeatedly as if in a loop. Even if you lock the car, within a couple of minutes it will unlock itself and keepon trying to unlock itself.

I tried removing the fuse for the central locking only to discover there was no fuse in its place, so I tried putting a fuse in its place and that did no good either!

Given that I couldn't fix it, and its parked on the street, I had no choice but to bring it to a main dealer today and see what they can do.

Has this happened to anyone before? Does anyone know whats wrong? Or any idea roughly how much it is to fix?

Convienience relay was one that the main dealer checked on mine when i had an odd issue with the locks every time i washed the car.

I found out after they checked it what it was....

I had the key in my pocket and was bending down to wash the doors/sills and pushing the button. How stupid did i feel.

Thats class!

At least you don't have to shell out the £400 to replace the central unit, which I just stuck on my credit card today! Feeling stupid Vs feeling Poor? Hmmmm, I think I'd rather be in your shoes to be honest mate!
