Loss of boost

Featured Replies

Hey guys, got a strange problem and hoping someone can shed some light. Car runs sweet except in 4th and 6th gear, the car loses all boost for half a second at various points through the revs, then returns to normal. No warning lights, or noises. Have tried changing plugs but not much difference, anyone got any suggestions on what to try next?

get the ECU scanned for fault codes first of all, that may give some more info

Have done mate, no codes are stored.

I take it that it is a vRS.

What age, what mileage.

What spark plugs have you put in and with what gap.

Is this in 'D', are you running it on super unleaded.?

Has it had the DSG Service Campaign? Oil & Software update?

HAS IT HAD THE UNFORTUNATE EXPERIENCE OF BEEN INTO AC's.?

On 37k, and is an 11 plate, but used no oil in my time of owning it. Swapped in denso plugs this morning, which didn't cure it.

And yes, unfortunately it started it's time from me from good old Mr arnold, not much other choice up north!

Today however, code P2279 (Intake Air System Leak) popped up, would this be a simple case of a lose pipe somewhere?

Also, this is in any mode, running on tesco momentum or shell power, and has no outstanding service campaigns!

Sounds like a leak is quite possible.

Is this the second set of plugs fitted with AC having changed the first set?

Do you know if it is running the original breather pipes or the Breather Pipe / Valve update was done?

Is it standard, no BOV fitted or the likes, and at what rpm are you feeling this, is it under hard acceleration and at around 3,500 rpm or is it at 5,000rpm?

Yeah, had a new engine put in at 26k miles, which was just before I bought the car but I'm struggling to find out details of this.

The car has a ITG filter fitted and was using a tmc tuning tuning box, but I've removed the box since the stuttering started. Apart from that, totally standard.

I wouldn't suppose you have have any ideas of common items that fail on the intake system? I've heard stories of the diverter valve failing when the boost is upped so going to look at that tomorrow, do you think that would throw the code up?

Thank you very much for your help by the way mate, really appreciate it

Keep forgetting to reply to part of your messages lol, it's only hard acceleration, and it seems to be at the points you were saying

It's a piston dv, they can leak boost but they aren't a vacuum leak unless the bolts have not been done up. Check the vacuum hoses to the boost controller, and the pipe from the Supercharger to the turbo are ok

It's never been touched so I wouldn't of thought the bolts would have worked them selves loose. Will check all tomorrow, cheers bud!

?

How long have you had it and do you know where the replacement engine was fitted?

Skoda UK Customer services need to tell you what they know if the engine was fitted during the Manufacturers Warranty.

Maybe PM me the Reg number and i might know who had your car.

?

Does it have an aftermarket intercooler fitted?

I don't know mate, it just says in the service book that a new engine was put in, the milage and the date.

Will send it over, bit of history would be good.

And no mate, only other thing is the centre section delete but don't think that's part of the problem.

Quick update, found one of the pipes next to the main breather assembly had wiggled loose, so tightened that and that's sorted most the problems, revs are still a little jumpy in 4th gear though
