Engine coolant light still lit up on my dash!

Featured Replies

Evening.

I've changed the coolant temperature sensor and topped up the coolant but the light is still coming on the dash, oddly the car still heats up and drives fine, what am I missing? Fault codes cleared using Carista but no change???

Are you sure the light isn't telling you there is a low level, not temperature.

As above there is a level sensor built into the coolant expansion tank.

Ah ha, now that had crossed my mind because I attempted to clean the prongs with a tooth brush but I can't seem to remove the sensor from the tank??

The sensor is not removable but the header tanks can be bought for around £15 on eBay and I think dealers are cheap too.

Thanks all, problem finally sorted. Basically I lost more coolant than expected whilst swapping the sensors over, so when I topped up the header tank to the correct level I didn't take into account how much had actually come out of the system, so driving it around for the first time after dropped the level below minimum thus throwing up the red light, doh!
