Bluetooth auto-play issue

Featured Replies

I've researched this but couldn't find anyone with the same issue, so here goes...

The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7, paired with a Yeti / Bolero combination. In the 'Settings' menu for the Bolero, under 'Setup Media', 'BT audio autoplay' is OFF. The symptoms are:

  1. As soon as the Bluetooth connection is established with the phone, the phone stops playing audio through its own speaker, which is a major problem because I don't get satnav alerts from Tom Tom, which is installed on the 'phone. I can disconnect the Active Device in the 'Media player' menu in the Maxidot 'Phone/Bluetooth' menu to get round this - but every time the Bluetooth connection is re-established, both Phone and Media are enabled again.
  2. If I disable Media on the phone in Bluetooth settings, when the Bluetooth connection is established, BBC iPlayer Radio starts playing through the phone speaker!!!
I've installed an app on the phone that is designed to block auto-play commands from car Bluetooth systems, but it doesn't recognise BBC iPlayer as one of the apps that can be controlled this way, so there's something special about BBC iPlayer. BBC iPlayer does not have a setting that allows blocking of autoplay commands - whereas my main media player does, so that's clearly been recognised as an issue by someone at some point.

I don't think this is necessarily a Yeti- or Bolero-specific problem, but my friend Google hasn't been able to help so far...so – has anyone else had this problem – and have you solved it? I'm trying to save myself the trouble of going through the Maxidot menu every time I get in the car.

i have a similar BT issue - once i connect it to my phone it automatically wants to listen to either Spotify or iPlayer Radio, whatever I was last connected to in the car.

I didn't realise there was an "autoplay" on/off setting, I'll have to take a look

I have this similar problem in my audi TTS. When I exit the car bluetooth starts media playing on my samsung galaxy S7, typically this is the last media I was listening to on BBC Radio iPlayer from days ago. This often results in me entering my home to the accompaniment of applause from the start of The News Quiz.

This happens in my TTS too and it's driving me crazy! Has anyone sorted out how to stop this madness!
