Internal Door lock switch issues

Featured Replies

Hi,

This may have been asked before. I have a 2006 octavia elegance estate and the door lock/unlock switch in the centre console works but only if you press really hard to unlock. This is a bit annoying as often i have to stop the engine and unlock the doors with the remote to let people in/out. I need to get the switch out to clean or replace it but cant seem to figure out how it comes out. I can see it if i take of the gear lever surround but how does it come out?? any help much apreciated

No idea, but my plip will still work with the key in the ignition and the engine running.

step 1: open ashtray in order to provide grabing space to gear lever trim

step 2: grab and pull up gear lever trip starting from ashtray and working your way around the trim, towards the handbrake lever . It snaps out. Pull the cover upwards, over the gearknob, like a sweater over your head :))

step 3: push really hard on the open/close doors button until it will decouple from the center console. Dont worry - it wont fall down there, but to be sure, you can put your hand beneath it through the newly created space due to the gear lever trim removal. you can remove the connector from it and pull it out through the gear trim hole in the center console.

Assembly is in reverse.

PS 1 - This is not the official way to dismantle the button from the center console. The correct way would be to take out the entire center console, dismantling side pannels,  front and back ashtrays and rear vents. Too much of a hassle for me - I replaced the button in 10 minutes the way i described above.

It will require some finger work :DDDD

Please excuse spelling mistakes. English is not my native language.

finally got round to sorting the switch. as posted above the switch came out with a bit of force. the connector was tricky to get off as there isnt much room. I stripped the switch down and gave everything a clean. Refitted, again very tight and it now works a treat.
