Monte Carlo emissions control lamp on?

Featured Replies

Hi all,Ive just become the owner of a monte 1.6tdi.the previous one owner was a lady who had it from new.i bought this Thursday and Saturday the dpf light appeared and I used the method described in the book and that disappeared.today Tuesday I had a full service by a good garage and had also the brake fluid changed and new pads as well as all the filters.after leaving the garage all was fine so I parked up for two hours.upon restarting after a few mins the emmisions control lamp came on and after driving for twenty mins remained on.i turned the engine off for two mins and on again but still present.i filled up with shell v power diesel when I bought it and was wondering if the fuel could be the cause if lower grade diesel was used for the previous 4 years.i realise I will need to take this car to be checked out ,but would welcome opinions

When you took it for the 20 min run was it a good back road blast or on the motorway above 2000rpm?
