2017 Octavia VRS

Featured Replies

I have this posted in the Mk3 forum however this may be a better place for answers.

I have ordered the a full set of interior led's from ledperf and also number plate and footwell kit. I understand I need to make some changes on VCDS with the led number plate bulbs and there are also a few more changes I would like to make having seen them on here.

A friend of mine has a garage and has HEX+CAN and the latest version of software 17.1.2. Should I be ok to use this set up to make changes? As far as I am aware my car is build week 50 of 2016 (According to the dealer)

All input welcome.

Thanks

You should be OK, but it’s impossible to say for certain until you plug it in as controllers can change at any time.

Cheers Gizmo

Is it possible to take a back-up of current settings before making any changes which can be reverted back to if any problems are encountered?

Yes always save a scan before doing any long coding changes, if the changes are to be done under Adaptations then you can save an Admap of each controller before making any changes.

Great Gizmo I will be sure to save files as I go!

May I pick your brains come more as the more I read on the subject the more confused I get! I hope to replace a lot of bulbs with LEDs this weekend and I would rather no exactly what needs to be done before I start. (The car is only a week old after all!!!)

I have purchased this interior light kit https://www.ledperf.co.uk/pack-interior-full-led-pure-white-for-skoda-octavia-3-5e-p-4942.html

Would I be correct in saying that these bulbs are safe to use, shouldn't do any damage to the BCM and require no coding.

I have also purchased this led number plate light kit https://www.ledperf.co.uk/leds-pack-white-6000k-license-plate-for-skoda-octavia-3-5e-p-4949.html

This came was two complete light units and also to black boxes and a wiring harness which I presume contains a resistor for the CANBUS. From reading up I think using the resistors would no be best practice.

I think I should not use the black boxes and just wire up the LEDs and then make the changes in VCDS.

Thoughts and tips much appreciated.

The interior lights are fine and no coding is required,

the black boxes are indeed resistors and IMO should only be used when coding the car is not an option.

LED number plate lights installed without the resistors and coded, no problems ( Just ,might need to adjust the brightness a tad)

Also coded the rear lights on with the DRL's

Thanks for your help.
