Skoda Octavia starts for a second then cuts off with no dash lighting at all

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

im really hoping someone can help.

I have a 56 plate skoda Octavia 1.9tdi estate I have had no problems with it what so ever until tonight, I went to the car and opened it as normal with the key fob. Put the key in the ignition and turned the key, nothing on the dashboard illuminated at all the car started then shut straight off. I tried a few times did the normal lock and unlock and retired after leaving it 20 mins but the same thing has happened.  I have checked the fuses in car and next to battery but all look good.

All other functions work from lights to blowers so just dash is dead and car starts for split second.

is this a problem with the cluster behind the dash and if so

1. What is the cluster and

2. How do I rip the dash apart to get to it?

or any other theories people may have are all welcomed

You need to get it scanned with vcds. Try removing the battery for a few minutes and try again.
