adding album artwork guide

Featured Replies

with the new generation of skoda's coming with touchscreen audio devices i have noticed a trend for people asking for help getting album artwork sorted so have decided to attempt to do a guide

so for this guide i will be using mp3tag others are available probably

so download mp3tag here http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

once installed navigate to your music folder on your pc

now depending on how you have your music stored this may or may not make sense

me i generally have all my tracks in one folder as generally i dont like all the tracks off an album so see no point in keeping the album folder

anyway highlight your track(s) and right click you should notice now mp3tag is available as an option mptag1.thumb.jpg.03b77e7c0caa2e971683f0765c09c8a6.jpg

you then should be presented with this screen (same highlighted blue tracks but now loaded in mp3tag )

so for the guide i selected beastie boys sabotage notice how in the bottom left of the screen the album artwork is not present the boxes on the left allow you to alter any names etc

occasionally artwork may already be there but it may be too large or too small we will address this in due course i think the limit safely is 500x500

with sabotage highlighted i click the following button and it populates the album title for me  mp3tag3.thumb.jpg.6694f0da48b22322a98bfb3442017ef0.jpg

click next and a search box appears hopefully with your album first and highlighted you may need to drag the little bottom bar across to check

ok so this next step is where things can wrong badly

in essence what this next screen does is load the tracklisting from amazon in the left column and your highlighted track in the right column but it places your track in track number 1 position if you were to select ok here it would change the track name of sabotage in this case to sure shot...

so what you need to do is highlight your track and use the up and down button to place it in this example number 6 position then select ok

notice how the art work has now pulled through if there was any picture there previously it gives you the option to save previous covers i always select no

occasionally you may not have the album information in your initial tag so by clicking this you can search on amazon by song title or artist or album name (i usually google the album first )

and thats pretty much it

multiple tracks of the same album

simple when loaded into mp3tag highlight them all before hitting search and then just alter all the track numbers as per the above pictures

occasionally you may have tracks that have no album artwork you can do one of two things here

leave it blank

or right click on where the artwork would be in mp3tag and select add picture navigate on your pc to a suitable picture 500x500 and hit ok then click the disc icon in the upper left

if i have missed anything please let me know
