De-Cat question

Featured Replies

When de-catting the vRS, what happens to the probes which are in the cat at the moment? I know that the engine light will show, but am I right in thinking that this will not effect the performance?

And also, does anybody have any experience in a de-cat blueflame system? Any comments or suggestions? And also, how loud is it?

And finally, apart from the MOT side, are there any downsides to having a de-cat?

:D

Sorry for all the questions!

Cheers

I have a de-cat. The probes stay in the exhaust, just the cat is removed. You will get an engine light and run the risk of going in to limp mode. You can have the second sensor switched off like I have and then you don't get an engine light. I have custom code mapping and it was an option. Ask Mike / Elton at Jabba if they can do it, but I think they like to keep the cat.

I haven't noticed an increase in noise, but its good for a few bhp.

Hope this helps.

I thought the main downside of a full de-cat was that it is illegal

I would spend the extra and get a miltek 3" cat as this will keep everything legal and emmisions correct plus giving significant increase in throttle response, also cuts all that pis*ing about changing every MOT

if too dear then once youv fitted it sell std cat pipe on e-bay for xtra funding, it fits more that just octys you know
