Insurance quote is cheaper when I add Mr P

Featured Replies

I have started to get some quotes for my new arrival. I have been with Norwich Union Direct for years as they have always managed to beat other quotes I have got. So, I rang them today to get a quote as just a renewal (but on the vrs) and it came out as

no idea, but yours is pretty cheap. Mine was £404 for just me. license 10 years, no points and full no claims.

who really knows it could be that it's half the risk factor?

Insurance is a joke at times

I will also add that those quotes included legal fees, courtesy car and bringing the excess down to

HOW MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheaper than £2000.00 put it that way

Insurance quotes just seem to be a lottery. Just ring round, make sure you tell them everything and go for the cheapest.

The best laugh I've had is Elephant, I've been with them for a year and the renewal comes through

They all try it on, every year, and every year my insurance broker tells them politely to 'go away' :P - they then virtually always beat the cheapest quote for a similar level of cover.

As for adding a second driver, it's the way SWMBO pays a LOT less, I've got an SP50/3pts and it made no difference to the premium, I reckon it really starts to hurt if you get up to 9 pts though.

Not a bad quote.

The extra person thing is normal, never understood why, but I hvae my dad and two mates on mine which knocks off about £150 combined. Result! Add everyone you can think of, generally caps out about 3-4 people.

Reason being that your dad is older & thus is lower risk - surprised about your mates getting it 'down' further tho

The fact you've got a "Mr P" suggests to the insurance company you're more likely to be a responsible person who has fewer accidents - and this is backed up by years worth of data. NU Direct are cheeky gits though, I always manage about £100 off my premium by getting a quote off their website rather than just renewing ! At £276 I'm guessing you've got a Fabia vRS not an Octavia !
