  1. Thanks, but that's bigger than 8.9.
  2. I'm away from the middle to the end of May. I agree, it does need to be warmer though.
  3. So how are all your little AAO's doing? Still going strong? Or thrown in the bin? I still havn't got one yet, but really want one to take away with me in May. The AAO is still the one I want, but I havn't a clue which one to pick!! I need help!! On the Acer website I narrowed it down to the 8.9 inch version, which gave me the model A110/A150. When I clicked on that, there was about fifty of them! I know I want windows, but that's about it. Any features that I should definetly have? I'd use it for web and maybe word docs, uploading pics whilst away and maybe music(?).
  4. Ahh, just had a good ole reread of this thread and it threw up some good memories. You can't beat a bit of nostalgia on a sunday evening...good times
  5. This relates to the diesel Scout only. I'm thinking about chopping my car in. Has anyone else gone from a Fabia vrs to a Scout diesel? If so, what would you say were the main differences performance, ride and comfort wise? Thanks
  6. Thinking about next winter if I've still got the vrs. Winter tyres is a must for where I live, so these will be ordered in time. My question is..Why do people go for steel wheels aswell, rather than just swapping their tyres? Is it because with all the salt or grit it can damage your alloys? Also, roughly how much are you paying to get them (tyres only) swapped over? Does it include balancing aswell? Thanks
  7. Yes, it takes your mind off eating!
  8. Thanks Dave, but I don't need advice on choosing a route that I've been doing for years! The M4 is a much quicker option than going via Salisbury and I know as I've done it that way a few times aswell. Mark, we get free Wightlink tickets hence Pompey, although I do prefer going Soton, so if it is that bad I may rethink on this one. The sister has just rang because they've just received a good couple of hours of the white fluffy stuff this evening. So now this has added to the already horrible side roads situation. I don't want to be defeated so am leaving it open. I'm convincd the increase in temperatures the rest of the week will do something by friday!
  9. If you are like me and crave carbs and end up making all the wrong choices, aswell as snacking when not hungry, then I may have the answer for you! I have discovered something rather amazing and it works!! I have nothing to do with the manufacturers, I have simply experienced it myself. Therefore I won't say what it is in this thread, but if you want details to try it for yourself, drop me a PM.
  10. I have planned to drive up to Bristol for the weekend. I havn't seen my sis for months, so have been really looking forward to it. The thing is, she tells me that many side roads are actually closed because of the conditions, so it's giving me the idea that things are still pretty dicey. She's having to go the long way to work just to get access to passable roads. So firstly.. Can anyone who regularly drives my route let me know what it's like at the moment? I go Pompey ---> M27 -->M3--->A34--->M4--->M32, then more importantly, any Bristolians let me know what it's like from the M32, off at the Ikea junction, up the Muller Rd, across by the Wellington pub and towards Henleaze, on the main road that goes past Southmead? The BBC weather suggests heavy snow fall over night tonight in Bristol. So any updates for my main route aswell as my smaller roads route to Henleaze tomorrow would be very much appreciated. If it were just us going I would, but we're taking the dog (no choice) so don't want to risk it too much. I've said I'll let her know by tomorrow night.
  11. I have stayed in that area, but not driven there. I did some research on driving down to Spain not so long ago and found this showing different routes. http://www.villaspain.co.uk/driving.php
  12. I've been looking at the Scout aswell, but as has been said, they're not as widely available at the moment. Most of the ones on Autotrader are about a year old and so holding their value well. I've also got next to no chance to test drive where I live so would have to make a special and expensive journey if one came up. I'm sure the drive would be better than expected against the vrs, but there's only one way to find out! Personally I like a bit of torque overtaking on the faster roads, so I'd have to test drive both the diesel and the petrol to see which I preferred. I've seen some Milotec? pictures of a tarted up Scout, which look a bit over the top. But I'm sure a few understated touches might make it feel a bit more individual or not so old? I don't know! I actually like it!
  13. Uggs did the trick when I had to leave my car and walk home for an hour on tuesday night. Hunters for taking the dog out, which is no different to usual but a good idea at the moment. Every day the ice is getting worse round here. I've just got a pair of Berghaus gloves which are lovely. But I've had to revert back to my broken snowboarding jacket just now until I can find a North face one I like. A top tip....wear socks over your shoes for extra grip. But not instead of on your feet, that would just be silly!
  14. Hmm, I was fuming when I started this thread. I'm glad I stopped where I did and didn't divulge any more. I work in the public sector and yeah, it can come down to peoples lives and another human beings safety is not to be messed around with in order to further your career. I long for the day when people will be put before budgets. If it's that bad, stop using the company credit card for your fat cat lunches! Rarrrrr!
