Fabia vrs mk2 coils

Featured Replies

Hey new to this never posted here before, I'm hoping someone can help me out.

I've being getting a slight misfire with my car, I know all about this problems that this engine has (2011 cave) however this misfire is only very specific when in 3rd or 4th gear around 3000rpm it will splutter once then pickup like normal, it's fine when I hammer it off the line etc no loss of power.

Ive just gone to check the plugs which where changed in January to see their condition but before I even got to that I have notice that one of my coils has a piece that appears to have broken off, I can't see it anywhere and haven't removed the plug yet. The piece of the coil that's missing looks like it's the rubber that goes over the plug, do you think that this could cause any issues or not? I'll upload a pic of the coil, I hope you guys can help me out! Cheers

Welcome.

Do not remove the spark plug until you get any bits out beside it.

You need a new coil, maybe 4 if the person that did the plugs last was handless.

Tell us what plugs are in and what the gap shows.

The misfire is when it is because you are still using Supercharger & Turbo until 3,500rpm and you are at maximum load really.

Hopefully if the Spark Plugs are all OK and the coils all is well.

Be careful putting the Turbo Pipe back on, the o'rings, and the breather pipes, be sure they are sealed.

thanks for the fast response, really appreciated.

There doesn't seem to be any bits there, its all clear so im guessing they have already been removed. I have not removed the plugs because i have lost my extension bar for my ratchet. Ill have to buy a new one tomorrow, im gonna check the gap too as i think its suppose to be 0.7, there were fitted by a VAG specialist so i would like to think they were done properly. The misfire has only recently started to happen so im not sure, probably gonna end up getting new plugs and coils i think.

Maybe best get DENSO plugs and check they are at 0.7mm

Pinned threads at the top of the Fabia Mk2 section.

Yes the VAG Specialist should have had them at 0.7mm, but please keep in order you remove them and post a picture if you can.

?

Quick update, sorry its been longer than i thought.

I haven't had the plugs out but i have replaced all 4 coils and its fixed the problem i was having, the car feel much more responsive now and no longer misfires when under load.

when i took out the old coils all 4 had pieces missing like in the photo, there was no broken bits down in the spark plug well, so my guess is that they have been like that for awhile.

Done over 500 mile since swapping them over and its not missed a beat.

Good to hear. Mine had pretty similar issues but wasn't anything broken, just old aged.

Sorted it out and feels great.
