Adding android device to work with Bolero

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

Got my new Octavia few weeks ago, and figured out i can't install my after-market android device (cheap chinese one, which i worked hard to setup and configure) which was installed on my 2014 Octavia (company owned car - transportation officer refuse to let me install it due to 'new safety related features which can be only controlled from the head unit').

The resolution i was offered is to install an android device which will be connected to the Bolero head unit, and will not interfere with the safety features (by a specific car-audio shop, which asks  ~1000$ for this pleasure).

Being the cheapass that i am, i'm trying to find an alternate solution, and i wonder if you guys are familiar with such device? i assume we are talking about two different devices, one is a connector that allows video input and touch control in the bolero unit (not sure if passive or active device) and an android device (probably - any device with HDMI/Analog video out and USB port can do the work).

anyone knows something like that?

thanks.

Hello,

Sounds like your Bolero should be the newer type that supports Android Auto. If true then you can plug in any Android device (phone) through the USB and get all of the functions of the phone including navigation available through the head unit screen.

Whereabouts are you?
