Newbie Octavia 3 speaker questions

Featured Replies

Greetings

I'm looking to upgrade the standard speakers on my Octavia 3 and have a couple of questions I hope some of you guys can help me with.

Firstly how do the Canton speakers compare in build quality to the bog standard ones? I have the option to buy some but not a lot of point if theres no great step up - note that I'm talking just about the speakers here, not the merits of the Canton system as a whole.

Secondly does anyone have any experience of vehicle specific component speakers(Focal/MBquart/Rainbow etc)? I cannont find any Skoda specific ones but the Golf mk6/7 ones look like they may fit?

Lastly if I decide to buy 'universal' 6.5 speakers are there suitable mounting adaptors/rings for an Octavia 3? Again I can find plenty of VW ones.

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Hello and welcome to the site.

There are some technical guides for the Octavia in a sub-forum, you could start with a search on there.

Thank you, I have already found much useful info in there.

FWIW the benefit from fitting better door speakers may not be huge. Is it more bass you are after?

Not only more bass but better defenition in general. Having looked at the standard fit speakers they really are cheap so I will probably be replacing the speakers this month together with new tweeters and proper crossovers. An amp, eq and maybe a sub will follow but I'm just doing the basic bits to start.
