Airbag warning light

Featured Replies

My Airbag warning light came on after i moved my seat. I am thinking of taking the seat out and disconnecting the connectors cleaning and reconnecting. A couple of things are currently stopping me. 1. If i disconnect the battery will i lose the radio (I have no code) and 2. If i did manage to rectify the fault does it need resetting by a VCDS anyway.

I don't want to go to a dealer but if they have the radio codes and VCDS software then it might be worthwhile in the long run.

I did put a std OBD unit but it did not show any error codes, i guess as it was just looking at the basic engine management and not the safety devices etc

Any advise please

You shouldn't need the radio code (if it is the standard fit radio) as the car will recognise it after the battery has been refitted. The airbag light will need resetting via VCDS or other similar software or suitable tool.

Rather than taking it to a dealers for a reset (who will probably charge at least 50 quid) is there a VCDS user close by who could help? Have a look at this thread

I'm near to Grantham and could reset the light if you can't find anyone closer.

The first time the radio is installed and thus enter the pin code, it is stored in the driver's dash electronic system so no matter how many times it is ejected and re inserted it is recognised by car.

Unfortunately the airbag warning indication needs a diagnosing tool to be zeroed.
