HELP - anyone have a tape measure?

Featured Replies

My Mk11 fabia just squeezes through the door opening of my garage. It's possible this will be replaced by a Mk111? BUT

I am aware that the Mk111 is lower BUT wider than it's predecessor - but I cannot find the actual measurement for across the outside (mirror to mirror) - can you help please.

Thanks in advance

Very grateful guys for your quick response.  1958mm very tight squeeze. I hope one of the specs includes electrically operated mirror inboard movement!!!

To be honest the mirrors don’t fold in much, the bottom section still protrudes out quite.a bit, even when folded in they still stick out more than on any other car I have owned. Sorry,

Electrically folding mirrors aren't available on the Fabia. Crazy that a small car these days can only just squeeze into a garage!

Have discounted the Mk 111 - too tight for my wife - especially late at night for manoeuvring etc..

As one commented, it is ridiculous that a small car has difficulty in entering a garage - this week looked at Toyota, Hyundai, Peugeot and others - all would (as a car) fit, but it is the additional mirror extension that kills them. So have bought a Polo which is about the only car that matches the Mk11 in its dimensions.

The MK11 had to go - it is now 4 years old, and after numerous attempts to get a problem resolved at several Skoda dealers without success - I gave up. You may be slightly puzzled about the tightness of the fit into the garage - although the garage door width is the conventional size, the mechanism for the door intrudes into the width a little thus creating the problem. The garage was replaced since the purchase of the MK11, which managed to allow the car to squeeze in, however nearly every small car has increased in width over recent years

Thanks for your comments.

Whilst almost every car model has increased in size...why?...domestic garages have remained the same.  No wonder so few cars now live in their garage.
