My 2008 1.9TDi  Octavia has the engine management light on sometimes recently, including right now.

It's only very dimly illuminated though.

any ideas?

Its a faulty dash, the solder drys out and causes some of the dash lights to partially and intermittently illuminate.

 

Quite a few threads on it over the years, unfortunately the only fix is to remove the dash binnacle and send it away for repair.
