ECU contains error code for glow plugs

Featured Replies

My 190PS Estate was in yesterday for a Siren replacement (alarm going off randomly).  The report form I got back with the car said there was a fault logged in the ECU for a glow plug system fault.

Spoke to stealers and they said can't localise it without running a diagnostic test (my guess is that's a standard £60 fee).

I've had no dash error lights come on.

Should I be bothered?  If so should I just replace the injectors (easy? hard?).  Or do I really need to get the stealer to run that diagnostic test?

Thanks, Dave

You've got to love the main dealers :D

In order the read the fault codes they've had to plug the car in to their diagnostic machine.

The fault code they've read will tell them where the issue is, so what they expect to achieve by running a second identical test is beyond me, apart from taking £60 off you.

Ignore it, if the car is starting fine from cold then you have no issues. I've had glow plug related fault codes before, cleared them and they've never returned.
