Electric window fault

Featured Replies

Hello all, earlier this year I posted a thread re my Sons faulty front electric windows, Fabia 2007. Hopefully to help others, the fault has now been repaired. The door harness, drivers side was found to have broken wires so that was replaced first. This did not cure the problem. The drivers side window motor was replaced, part number 6Y1959801, this rectified the problem. Possible that the broken wires affected the motor!

Hope this helps anyone with the same problem

  • 2 weeks later...

My 2007 Fabia level 3 front electric windows packed up about 3 weeks ago. I only noticed last week having not wound (both) the windows for a while. I thought perhaps I had fried the window motors due to excess frost on the car one morning but I remember using the windows a some point later I had not tried the following to source problem:

  1. rubber boot at door hinge
  2. remove drivers door switches
  3. comfort facility reset
  4. undo negative lead of battery
  5. checked fuses

All of the above have been suggested on here and elsewhere.

I was waiting for a suitable time for the weather to warm up!

I commute in my fabia so every day I would check to see if the windows might start working again?!  Well they did last night from nowhere!

I can only guess the problem may have been when i carry my stuff to car such as heavy shopping and work gear that the key fob buttons may get depressed in any order as I sometimes hear/see the locks and indicators activate?

Yet another mystery to solve!
