Ally wheel colours

Featured Replies

The car got a long overdue wash at the weekend and my alloys are looking rough.

[rant] I've not kerbed them or chipped them in the slightest but the fecking cheap assed BMW  diamond cut alloys oxidise like crazy from the slightest nick or even from nothing at all under the centre cap. Feckin BMW won't honour the warranty on the alloys since they've been repaired before even though this is a BMW approved used car, with the previous owner being BMW!!![/rant].

Anyway there is a local powder coaters with a decent reputation and the price doesn't appear to be too bad.

My dilemma what colour to get? Silver to mimic what's there or something a bit darker (anthracite)?

Does anyone have pics of a race blue VRS with anthracite alloys?

My Beemer is m-sport blue which isn't a million miles away from race blue.

Stick a pic up of you car, will help with opinions.

I'm now glad my car didn't come with the diamond cut performance wheels :D

Is plain silver/chrome considered outdated?.

Not at all, but a slightly darker colour might look even better.

It seems to me wheel designs are getting more and more tortured and fussy.

Simplicity is boring it seems.

looks good as is, although darker will be easier to keep clean?

They are kindof grey on the inner faces where the lathing hasn't happened.

I'll speak to painter soon and see if he suggests anything. One paint might even be tougher than another which would sell me tbh.
