VED Question

Featured Replies

Can anyone help me with the change in VED rates from April 2018.

I’ve been told by a dealer that there will be a extra monthly charge for my car (PCH)  if it’s delivered after 1 April 2018. This is due to the increase in VED rates.

I’ve looked everywhere, including the DVLA site and can only see increases / proposed new rates for DIESEL cars, mine is PETROL.

Can anyone confirm if petrol rates (mine is 154g CO2) are increasing from April 2018, and was if so point me in the direction of the info.

I have a feeling I am being told a porkie.

Is that not going to be about 60 pence a month with the Budget Increase?.

(My £145 a year went up £5 on the Auto Renewal from the 1st March.)

Unlike the First year VED on a 2.0 TDI going up from £200 to £500.

All the Press / Media stuff after the budget was just confusing on the Diesel going up a band from April, then last April 2017 registrations 2nd year VED,

and nothing really on the Budget increase, cost of living.

They are suggesting it will be approx £5 / month increase.

I have asked for the info, but as yet nothing.

As hard as I have looked I can’t see any April 2018 VED increases for Petrol cars. It seems they were introduced April 2017, with increased Diesel rates in April 2018.

unless I’m missing something.......

I have a feeling I am being told a porkie.

So, finally got a resolution on this after sending numerous messages / telephone calls.

They were pulling a swift one.

As far as I can gather, they were putting financial pressure on me to either:

a) take the car earlier than I wanted (in an earlier sales quarter) by telling me they would not increase the price, or-

b ) raise more revenue by hoping I wouldn’t look too deep into the new VED rates.

Anyhow, I have now been told, no increase in price (maybe pence / month @ inflationary increase) & car being delivered as per original instruction :)
