Octavia 3 Facelift with AFS - Camera options

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I have a Octavia 3 Facelift style edition with front LED lights and AFS.

Does any of you know if its possible to activate lane assist / sign reconition with the build in camera?

Thanks in advance.

I am curios about this as well. Did you found anything?

I think they both need the larger camera, ie if you have the big lane assist camera you can enable traffic sign recognition, I don’t think the smaller high beam assist camera is capable, but would be good for someone to confirm for sure.

All UK spec vRSes have the lane assist camera, it’s easy to code High Beam Assist and Trafffic Sign Recognition. The adaptation channels have changed from the pre FL though, you’ll need to check exactly what coding needs doing as it differs from the coding in the main VCDS thread on here. I had the link for it, but I can’t find it atm.

Yup, I think OP's "Style" maybe similar to our UK "SE L"?  So I think will depend on if it has the larger Lane Assist Camera, pretty sure the smaller HBA camera on my FL SEL can't do Lane Assist or TSR.

I didn’t see the style bit, yes the large triangular lane assist camera is needed to activate HBA and TSR. The smaller light sensor (which can do HBA) won’t do lane assist or TSR.

I've got the smaller HBA camera on my 1.4TSI Elegance and that cannot be coded for TSR, believe me I've tried...

That's too  bad. Maybe there is a way to change the mirror, and add one with the more performant camera?

Hi.

I have still not found out if my car can be reprogrammed to have lane assist and Sign reconition.

I have attached picture of my camera.

Can anybody see if this maybe is possible ?

Thanks

No, that's the smaller camera, you can't get TSR or Lane Assist on this. Generally speaking, you specify lane assist and get the camera, then code other options in. The lane assist camera is huge and lives in a triangle shape housing behind the screen. I'd take a picture of mine, but the car is in a car park a long away from my office. If nobody else does by the tie I get home, I'll do it :)

Here's an exterior and an interior shot of the camera that has lane assist and can be coded for TSR

Should have added that these images relate to a pre FL L&K MODEL with sunroof

Others will let you know if that makes any difference

Pretty sure my 245's hangs a little lower than that....

Think it looked odd from the angle I took photo from

Here's one that shows it better (in the rain)

yup, that is what we need. Where can we buy it?:)

Sorry can't help on where to buy, but sadly I think the windscreens are also different depending on what camera is fitted

The dark area surrounding the "triangle" that the camera views through is embossed on the glass I believe

Pretty sure this retrofit hasn’t been done, and even if it were possible it’d be far cheaper to change the car for one that has lane assist.

Correct, the windscreen is different, so as well as the wiring changes (extra CAN connections, etc. ) you also need a new windscreen.

Probably not worth the hassle...
