New on site tonight

Hello. New to Briskoda tonight. Don't know why I joined. Scrolled through all the sections to see what was what. Suprised and delighted to see a motorcycle riders section here.

I hate driving, and was reminded as to why after just coming off the section with peoples dash cam footage. Yes where I live just about every other driver has a certain number of neurones missing. Thats why I ride a motorcycle as an advanced rider it safer !  believe it or not.  My Octavia 1.6 Tdi though is the best car I have ever driven. Yep I'm an oddball.

But having said that my very first car when I was 20 was a Skoda. An Estelle 120 LE, white with a vinyl roof, Remember them ?! Can't fault the Octavia. Its comfortable, its smooth,

It has all the kit in it that my last dustbin of a Mercedes A class had in it but it costs next to nothing to Tax and run, even though I just had to have e new EGR valve put in at £800 it has still given outstanding value, and miles for money.  Bought it as an approved used from our local regional dealer chain .My local franchise treat me better than any other brand chain I have had dealings with. I love the Fabia my wife has too. The only addition I have is , well, a new mirror cam. The one that clips onto the rear view with the camera mounted behind. Much neater than a box sticking out on the dash. Hope I never have to use it in evidence. I like my Octavia. Shame about the driving it in a war zone. The only car I would change it for is a Skoda. I may well end up getting a Superb. I would probably not want to drive it much though. Not until I get through a RoSPA advanced course. I'.ve covered the average drivers 12 000 miles in just short of 4 years. Ive only just changed the original from new brake pads and discs. Its had only two tyre set changes and the usual consumables at service time.

My dealer gave me a fantastic last service by changing my cam belt at way below the rated charge as part of the deal. Sorted an obscure minor fault with the left offside rear light cluster for free. I would like to go onto talking about my Honda ST 1300 Pan European but It may offend and attract abuse in this section. But when I'm on that beauty you won't get close to giving any. I think I got the best of both worlds. Any way for fear of attracting more ridicule, how many owners have names for their cars.? Er , how many owners have called their car YODA!

Well, a Pan is a tourer done right!

My present car is called "Samantha" (hint as to the registration prefix), and the previous Xantia was "Spock" (at least partly for the green "blood" in the Hydropneumatics).

If I'm being polite I will occasionally refer to the beamer as "The Beast". But more regularly as "that stupid car" or "the  idiot maker" (Because driving it turns you into an idiot pretty quickly) and progressively downhill in proportion to the size of the bill it has cost me.

I had a mate that called his 1.2 Nova "Jasmine" after a character in a Disney film. 20yr later he still hasn't lived it down and probably never will unless he outlives us all.
