DieselEngine starts then cuts out no dash lights

Featured Replies

Can you please help me after the cold spell we had a few months ago my battery was flat as my car was in the really cold weather for over a week so we need a jump to start my Skoda  car it's a diesel 1.9 engine the engine started on the jump but cut out immediately after words also we had no lights on the dash bord some say it could be fuel pump but the car was running perfect before we parked the car at the cold snap now the door key does not activated the  door central locking you have to open doors with the key can you help me please as I lost my leg in an accident and only out of hospital can't afford to go to a dealership thank you

Is the dash working at all? Sounds like it has died or there is a bad connection on the back.

Starting and then cutting out sounds like immobiliser which is programmed into the dashpod itself

Thank you for responding how do I fix or get a new or second hand imboliser to get my car driving again to me it makes sense that the imboliser is faulty as it is like a kill switch being turned on so ware in the imboliser cituated thank you in advance for your kind help

Have you tried

connecting a fully charged battery

re bump starting the car

if it cuts straight out again it may be egr valve stuck open ( or any of a number so sensors not giving correct info to the ecu ) only sure fire way of telling is to get the car onto a diagnostics reader

good luck fingers crossed its a simple fix

Sounds more likely to be a battery fault caused by it being over dischatched.

As David White implied, first step is to borrow a known good and charged battery as a tempory test battery. Do not use this good battery to jump start the car as it could over discharge and overheat if your battery is faulty.
