Door anti-theft security feature?!

Featured Replies

Hi!

I have a Skoda Octavia mk2 2007 2.0tdi with elegance package and recently i encountered a problem which might be caused by a security feature.

So to begin my story, all of the work that was planned, was to remove a little patch of rust which was forming right under the passenger side door handle.

My plan was simple: remove the door handle -> get rid of the rust -> reattach the door handle

Sadly wasn`t that simple because i was not aware that after removing the cable, both indoor and outdoor door handles get automatically disconnected from the door opening mechanism. (Also doors did not fix in locked position. They could be opened even without using door handles)

This cable:

I thought that something was broken so removed the interior trim. Only later i discovered that there is a little plastic on the side of the doors that reveals a button which fixes everything when pressed. I assume that it is an anti theft feature made for thieves not to be able to open door afterwards. Located here:

After putting it all together, everything was working fine. Until i made the mistake of removing the door handle with the doors closed. Now the doors are stuck in closed position and i have no idea how to get them opened. So if anyone has any ideas how to bypass this system, help is greatly appreciated!

I cannot find any information anywhere about this, but if it is made for security, then probably it is kept as a secret..

Thanks in advance!
