Hi all, apologies if this is posted in the wrong place wasn't sure where to post this.

Tried selling my car last week and to cut a long story short couldn't go through with the sale as my driving license has my new address but my v5c has my old address as I forgot to update it.  

 

Does anyone know the turnaround time for just an address change on the v5c? It was sent by recorded delivery and they received it yesterday morning.

When changing my last car I retained the registration “online” received new documentation within 3 days ,quite impressed.

Who did not buy the car & accept that you are who you are and that the Registered Keeper (have title to the car) if it is you had a licence at an address and the vehicle showing at another.

You had your past ID for the address you lived at before did you not, bills, invoices etc.

 

Many people own or are registered keepers of vehicles at addresses where they do not live.

If you live in more than one place the vehicle is only on the DVLA Database and on the V5 at one address.

I'm selling it to my local car dealer and was told that the two documents need to match, hence why I sent It off the same day. Just hoping it doesn't take too long, I wasn't even aware I could do it online but the DVLA website advises up to 6 weeks

Odd that when they sell a car, your old car their Address is not on the V5 it will be yours.

Same when they get a car at auction, some will have the car as 'In trade' obviously.

 

They can have their Company Policy if they want but it is one that seems to be easy for them, or being implemented in a cack handed way.

Is it a local Sole Trader or a Dealers Group type set up?

It's one of the car supermarkets, they offered me a reasonable price and I opted to go that route because I thought it would be quick and easy but they just told me to update it and come back so everything matches and I haven't really questioned it. I just have no idea how long the change of address will take for me to get the v5 back..

I heard all that crap from Evans Halshaw,  as i told the manager i do not register my cars at my address as i am a body donor and if dead in a fatal accident there is no point an Officer attending my home address as found from the Registered Keeper details as i am dead and not coming to the door.
