Friend looking at 2011 Roomster. Seems expensive?

Featured Replies

I'm a little out of touch with the Roomster.

I'm currently in France and a friend of mine is looking at buying this: https://www.leboncoin.fr/vi/1482869736.htm/

It does seem rather pricey for a 2011 car. Engine is an 85CV petrol, but don't know any more than that. Possibly going to see it this afternoon (wish I had my VCDS cable with me!).

Apart from cambelt, etc, and the price which seems rather high, anything else I should look out for? I did read the other buying thread that was rather useful :)

It is only an 'asking price' a wish and a dream, they ask that and someone pays that or nearly that or it does not sell.

Lots of people value cars high, but then some buyer wants them and reckons they are worth the price.

?

Is the Timing Chain / Tensioner a possible issue with that car / engine.

Has there been any Service Campaign or Warranty Work done?

Yeah, I haven't really checked pricing in France yet, but I'd say €6k tops providing cambelt has been done - which is unlikely due to the current owner having had it a few years and not done that many miles. I guess the 85ps petrol engine has a belt and not a chain? I'm so rusty on this stuff now. Will do some more reading.

Sorry i do not know Roomsters and the Petrol Engines, i know TSI Petrols though.

Which engine has this Roomster.

No point checking Cam Belt Schedule if it is a Chain, and check the Chain History if it is a Chain Drive from 2011, and the other belt.

Spark Plug and Air Filter Servicing if recent, open the Air Box and look see.

I have no idea if in France they check and replace or even if they check to Manufacturers Guidelines.

Hopefully knowledgeable people on Roomsters will be along.
