Infotainment system

Featured Replies

I purchased my Koroq 1.5Tsi Dsl in February and I've been having issues with the infotainment system not turning on when the engine is started. It's been back to the dealer already but there was no update available etc. The dealer attempted a fix but with no luck. I have been using it since but after multiple failures it's due back at the dealer's for another attempt at fixing it. It's a real shame, the problem is totally intermittent, I've got video proof of course, but I can't use any of the cars functions eg sat nav, phone reversing camera if the screen doesn't work.

The dealer might have to replace it but I won't hold my breath on that one.

Has any other Karoq or Kodiaq owners suffered similar problems with the infotainment system?

No problems with any of the systems in the Karoq, nor with getting the appropriate attention and action from Skoda dealers. These comments apply to 14 years, one Octavia, two Yetis and now the Karoq with three months and 4000 miles.

Could this strange relationship to Skoda dealers be a RH drive phenomenon?

I've had an Octavia, 4x4 Yeti and now the Karoq. Never had an issue with the first 2.

The Karoq is a brilliant vehicle and I have no doubt the dealer will sort this annoying problem out.

I was merely wondering if it is indeed an isolated fault or a wider issue with the infotainment system.

I'm assuming on the occasions it doesn't turn on automatically with the engine you are still able to turn it on manually?

Even with the infotainment turned off, engaging reverse should still activate the screen temporarily to show the graphical representation or camera view, is this not happening either?

I actually turn my Columbus off before turning off the engine so that it doesn't come on automatically each time I start the car.

This is a strange problem, when the engine is started and the infotainment screen doesn't come on, the functions still work eg the radio plays, and you can touch the screen and change a radio station, it's just there's no actual display on the screen.

If I turn the engine off and back on again it doesn't clear the fault. The screen doesn't display anything

If the screen hasn't come on and I leave the vehicle parked for a while then the screen comes on properly.

And then to make matters worse the problem is completely random. It could be fine for a few days and then the infotainment screen won't display anything even the reverse camera or parking sensors. Leave it for half an hour and it's fine again.

It's booked in at the supplying dealer in the next week or so.

I'm still wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I'd be insisting on a brand new head unit. The dealer has had a fair chance to fix it, at your inconvenience.

They're getting a second chance, again at your inconvenience, this time it gets fixed properly or they need to be coming forth with some sort of goodwill.

Your absolutely correct, I've been more than reasonable about the issue. I've supplied video footage etc and the best one was the dealership manager who said he'd never experienced the problem before and obligingly the infotainment system failed to start up with the car. He was adamant it's a software issue but Skoda haven't issued any updates as far as I know.

I'll post my progress over the next few weeks.

Hi everyone.

A quick update on my infotainment issues. My supplying dealer has changed the head of the infotainment system in my vehicle. And it appears to have solved all the issues with it. So I’m a happy chap. Coming up to my first service and the only issues I’ve had with the Karoq are the infotainment system and a broken light selector. And as it’s on auto all the time I’ve absolutely no idea it was broken. Only realised when I tried the fog lights the other morning and when it pulled it the head of the switch come off in my hand lol.

I have a 2019 KAROQ STY TS110/1.5M6F and have similar issues, the screen breaks up occasionally. It's done it in both cold and hot weather. Today the screen was completely blank, I resolved it by holding the power button in for ten seconds, not a good thing to be doing whilst driving.I had it serviced a couple of weeks ago and they said they could find nothing wrong. I obviously want this fixed as a warranty job and want to avoid been strung out till the warranty has expired.
