Anyone know if there is any interval for changing Belt on oil pump? I am searching but cannot find anithing. I am about to do timing belt and if its necessery also oil pump belt(number 10 on picture)

do you have the common oil pump knocking noise ?

I have a scout with a crmb this has the same belt set up they have told me there is no current interval. Belt is a wet belt system that’s has been becoming more common since the 2009 ford lynx engine and i suspect the belt setup  on our engines will be very costly to do

I have a noise coming from the oil pump and I suspect I need to replace the drive belt from the oil pump- SO far I have done 73.5K miles without any faults in board but the noise is bothering me very much.... Anyone having this same problem? Have you replaced the oil pump as well? Did the noise disappear after replacing?

@MC08 I do have the same issue. Consulted with various sources and its not clear if new replacement will fix the noise. Drives me crazy.

 

Also I'm not sure if this reflects to the car stability and performance. As its combined vacuum and oil pump...maybe I'm crazy but when accelerating fast and stepping fast on brakes they feel faded. Needing more pressure (feels like lacking braking assistance pressure).

 

@Sec8200 so you did not replace this timing belt? I am going today to a local shop to ask for an opinion. I am tempted to replace just the belt I think it may have loosen and thus the noise...but can’t be certain this is the case...

@MC08, yeap. In general I was collecting details regarding this issue but decided to leave it for now. Did not change the pump, nor the surrounding stuff.

 

Let me know reagarding your progress / updates. I will appreciate them.

 

One thing that bothers me (not sure if it's connected but sounds logical) - under hard acceleration, lifting the pedal and stepping on breaks - they feel like not stopping fast enough. Sometimes I feel even discomfort. Why I'm sharing it - maybe you can confirm/reject this behaviour. In any case the vacuum pump is also supplying vacuum to turbo and to brake assistant.

@Sec8200 I cannot feel anything different with the way the car behaves.. in my case it is just a case of noise that bothers me. The guys from the shop will carry some investigation works tomorrow and hopefully I will know what is going on by end of the day.

This is what I could find that relates to my case. This is almost the exact noise the car makes when iddle-ing (I do not have any oil indicators in the dashboard or any errors at all...) But the sound is there and it bothers me like hell....

yes, exactly this f****g noise and yes exactly from this pump. Ruined my "new car experience" from 15k km till today. 

 

BTW I've been to few dealership to complain. After third they printed me a technical bulletin stating that this is "cosmetic" and is not reimbursable from Skoda. Also took me to check brand new car - rattling as well, little less but still...

But this is f****g Eastern Europe, might be just a way to bypass expenses. 

 

Honestly I can't even imagine why it sounds like this and get silent above 80 degrees...

Try pressing few times the brake pedal - this should change the sound for a while. Also - not sure if first oil change triggered it, didn't notice before that. I put Castrol 5w30, changing it each year or every 15k km. 

What is yours?

@Sec8200    I am using Liquimoly Toptec 4200 5w30 and I am very pleased with it. I own this car from approx. 25K and at first I did not notice this sound.. but now it becoming more and more disturbing. I will update you with what I have been told. 

I will try pressing the brake a few times and see if it makes any difference. I am using brakes quite a lot but the sound is always there...

doesn't it disappear when oil temperature reaches 80°? Mine at least doea this and the torture is when started. Frequently being asked "what is broken" by close friends ...

 

BTW I've spoken with two people in Russia with the same issue. One of them told he replaced the pump, got silence for awhile and noise started to build in six months again. Which is insane.. Repair cost here is ~370€
