Sat nav sd card

Featured Replies

Morning all, I just picked up my new 68 plate karoq sel last Monday great car but upon getting home and setting everything up I noticed the sat nav was not working and after checking there was no sd card in media system in the glove box, so went back to dealer who said it was missing and he could not find it so took one out of an old car and installed that. The box he gave me had a reg for another car that's 18 months old. When I checked how upto date it was skoda on line said I needed to update this by downloading a 12gb file and installing this via sd 2 card to update issue is the sd cars dealer gave me has locked the system up as it was the wrong issue or something. Skoda won't confirm what the latest version is and say only a dealer can help dealer says u have the latest one which I know is untrue as vin number shows it's out of date ànd needs that 12gb download. So does anyone know what the latest card or version number is for the sd card so I can make sure the dealer gives me a brand new card when I go back, as nothing's working. Thanks all.

Did you download the updated map data to the Skoda SD card?

No I was told told use a blank sd card and download to that,  I was told to format it first and set it up as shown via skods website all was fine download all done but dealer gave me a sd card from a different model that won't work in my skoda karoq that's what skoda have told me. Dealer says they work in all, but I've checked and they don't it needs to be for that model,  so I'm just trying to see if anyone knows the latest sd card version available. 1 I have is Europe 1 cw 45/2017 If that makes sense, skoda told me it's old and only the dealer can supply a new upto date one.

You need to format and transfer latest downloaded maps to the Skoda SD card. You cannot use any other SD card.

You should format the skoda SD card in fat 32 file system on a Windows pc, download the 12 GB file from skoda update, and follow the instruction the dowloaded file give you.

It will ask for a destination to install the files, just point it to the formatted SD card.

I understand,  but the issue is the sd card given don't work in the karoq it's been locked to another car so skoda tell me and that's why it don't work, never heard of that before and that's why skoda told me to go to the dealer again and get the UK to date one. But they won't tell me what version it is they are saying the dealer will know.  So before I go back to the dealer again I'm just trying to find out what the latest card is.

Take it back to the dealer and insist that they carry out the setting up of the sat nav. It is not unreasonable to expect a working, uptodate satnav system when buying a brand new car. If they are diffucult, contact skoda UK customer services and complain to them.

That's what I did, and they told me to take it back and demand a new one. And that's what I'm going to do, was just trying to see if anyone has the latest or knows the latest version of the sd card. Skoda confirmed a massive map update is being released in Nov online so I may wait until then and get it all done at once.

There was no SIM in my car on delivery a couple of weeks ago.  I was given and SD card marked Europe 1 - CW31/2018 in a sealed DVD style plastic box.  It works in the satnav but I have just tried using the update portal to check if it is the latest and the portal faiIed.

The latest version of the  update is ECE2018/2019. I dont see how the sd card can lock your system. The sd card might be locked with the tab on the side that stops you from over writing.

If you want to update  save maps then delete download new maps from portal (12gb) could take a couple of hours. then copy and paste you can use any sd card or usb for radio station logos You can find the version in your system settings
